Karin Carestia has been practicing pharmacy for 19 years, graduating with honors from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. She moved to Colorado soon thereafter to be in a setting to practice retail pharmacy and enjoy the many recreational pursuits offered by a mountain setting. After becoming a competitive cyclist she realized the great importance of diet and lifestyle in daily performance, physical as well as mental. Pursuing that strong interest in nutrition and a more functional approach to health, Karin helped to open Prescription Alternatives, a compounding pharmacy in Frisco, Colorado. After moving to Park City in 2006 with her husband and two children, she returned to retail pharmacy, but never lost the enthusiasm for compounding. Having received training by attending comprehensive
programs with PCCA (Professional Compounding Centers of America) on
compounding technique as well as on Bioidentical Hormone Therapy, Karin is very excited to open and operate Alpine Apothecary, a compounding pharmacy here in Park City.
